So we were feeling a bit sad about spending Halloween in NYC without our friends and trick-or-treating in a neighborhood…. Don’t feel bad for us- it was awesome here.
Charlie’s school had a party all day long on Halloween- there were games, cupcakes, costumes, so much fun.

Halloween night the Gavin’s came over and we went trick-or-treating. It turns out that our neighborhood, Tribeca, is the place to be on Halloween (who knew?). It was a beautiful night and all of the restaurants and stores set up spooky displays and hand out candy. There were tons of families in their costumes. It was so much fun and such a strange sight in the middle of NYC. The bakery handed out cookies- so yummy. Here are some pictures of our fun night.

Grace & Charlie

It looks like Charlie’s friends had a fun Halloween too…

week of oct. 22-
Monday Charlie & I were walking around our neighborhood and right around the corner they were filming a new tv show, “The Cashmere Mafia”- here is what it looked like.

The show starts at the end of Nov. on ABC- looks like it might be good??? Keep your eye out for the scene they shoot in this restaurant, The Odeon.

It rained pretty much all week- here’s Charlie all ready to go out in the rain- since our stroller is our car, we had to do what all the other Manhattan moms do and get the rain shield, rain coat, & boots- now we fit it.

Here’s Charlie bringing his pumpkin home- Going to the pumpkin patch NYC style- basically means you walk down to the little fruit stand guy and get your pumpkin there- Definitely not as much fun as going to the actual pumpkin patch, but luckily Charlie doesn’t know that-

Sat & Sun: We were at the park both days and Sat we had celebrity sighting #17….. Ed Burns (actor; married to Christy Turlington), Sunday we saw John Stewart with his daughter and nanny. They are just normal dads chasing their kids around- pretty cool to see.
Here we are getting in the Halloween spirit going to a Halloween party in the park

Week of Oct. 15
Thurs Oct. 18- We were at music class this morning. Charlie was touching another mom’s feet with his feet and very loudly she was saying, “Don’t do that.” “That hurts me.” “I said don’t do that.” URRRRRR!!!! I was ready to attack- ok, maybe he shouldn’t do that, but he’s 2 years old and not hurting you. Come on… I gave her a dirty look and brought Charlie over by me- I couldn’t believe it- She didn’t hear me complain that her kid’s boogers and drool were getting all over the instruments… I can’t wait to get away from these Manhattan moms.
The weather has been crazy warm all week- in the 70’s. Who thought we’d still be wearing flip flops in Oct.
Here’s a picture of Charlie from cooking class making ravioli. So cute.

Here he is in his handsome big boy outfit- speaking of big, check out his feet!

Thursday night we went to see Lion King on Broadway. The tickets were a gift from Tom & Karyn-thanks. The show was AWESOME. It really is worth seeing if you are coming to NYC. Very entertaining and enjoyable. Bill even liked it, but then again he is in gay love with Disney, so of course he liked it
The weather this weekend was perfect- 72 degrees, sunny- Saturday we had a picnic at the park.

Sunday we took the train 1 hour to the Bronx Zoo. This place was amazing. It is huge and has fun “rides”. Charlie had a great time and won’t stop talking about the sealions and the funny noises they made.

Charlie is a gopher
Congrats to Jamie & Matt Schwendeman who are expecting baby #2 in May- we are so happy for you guys!

Oct. 13 & 14- Mark & Maura came to visit. We had such a great time with them. Of course we had to take them to McSorley’s and we bar hopped our way around the city. We had a great Italian dinner. It was a fun night with such great company. Thanks for visiting!

Oct. 4-7: Bill & I escaped to Turks & Caicos to celebrate our 5 year anniversary. 5 years, wow! Bill’s mom & brother came to watch Charlie, so we knew he was in good hands. We stayed at a beautiful, romantic hotel; The Regent Palms, which was perfect. It rained on and off during our trip, but we didn’t mind- we were just happy to be away & alone! Here we are under a cabana on the beach during the pouring rain. We just hung out under here drinking & reading our books.
Our version of the Corona ads-

We ate lunch at this little dive place right on the beach, Da Conch Shack where they get the conch shells out of the ocean and take the conch out and cook it up for you- so cool. Here is a giant pile of shells.

This was the day I wished would never end- the most perfect date ever. We rented a private boat to see the island, snorkel, & stop at different beaches. Turks & Caicos is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been. The water was the blue color of the fake water you see at minature golf courses. The sand was the softest ever.We had a wonderful trip and hope to come back some day.

7 dolpins swam right next to our boat- amazing

Monday Oct. 1 So I attempted to use one of my usual mom manipulation techniques… “Charlie you better turn your ears on, I don’t think they are working” To which he replied, “they’re broken”. Ok, so that didn’t work… (normally he pretends to turn them on). Then I said “Well, I guess we’ll have to go to the dr. and see if they can fix them” (normally scared to go to dr)- he replied, “ok, play with trucks and cho chos” (they have toys there). I was speechless… I had no comeback. I assumed he would eventually be smarter than me, but at 2 years? I’m in big trouble!
Wed Oct. 3- We’ve entered the “Bossy Stage” of development
I called for Charlie, saying “Char Char”. He responded, “no Char Char, me Charlie Mark Fish”- so he’s already changing his name and bossing me around
Then later that morning I asked him if he made a poo poo and he said “no ask me that”… Ok…
We were at the grocery store, where I saw my friend Eddie Falco again- she’s so cute, it’s strange seeing her do normal things like pick out toothpaste- anyway, we walked by the Halloween section (which Charlie thinks is his) and a lady was looking at masks and he yelled “no no Char Char’s spooky things”. I had to appologize to the lady- again the big 2 year old boss.

Week of Sept. 24- The weather has been beautiful all week- in the 80’s, I guess one more week of summer weather. Charlie and I are in full Halloween mode- we decorated the apartment and everything is “spooky”. We search for pumpkins and scarey things all over the city.
Monday we had cooking class- here is a picture of Charlie making jello-

Funny Charlie story- thurs morning went to make oatmeal and there was a nice surprise in the microwave- 3 cars- pretty funny
Friday-Sunday: My parents and Aunt Gina & Uncle Lou come to visit, actually Charlie calls them “Uncle Gina & Uncle Lou”… what a crazy weekend. We had so much fun and I haven’t laughed that much in a long time.
Friday night dinner at Ideya in SoHo- so delicious.

We thought we would just stop at the Mulberry Street Bar to show them, no we were there for 2 hours singing Karaoke… hilarious.

Singing “New York”

Saturday- my mom, Aunt Gina & I headed to China Town so the girls could get some purses. They had a ball buying shirts (they make fake Lacoste), jewlery (fake Tiffany), purses (fake Louis, Channel, Coach), sunglasses (Prada, Channel)… Aunt Gina was wheeling and dealing with everyone. It was so much fun. Saturday night we headed to McSorley’s. The guys loved their onion appetizer.

We had a great dinner at our favorite spot Amicci’s in Little Italy. Aunt Gina made a great purchase in Little Italy, boxer shorts with fake butt cheeks on them. She wore them for the rest of the night… It was the funniest thing I have ever seen… People were pointing and laughing- it was the happiest I have ever seen New Yorkers!

Thanks for a truely memorable weekend… We had SO much fun!
Sunday- Charlie put his cars in the microwave again today, except this this time he turned it on and started a fire and burnt his cars. He has spent most of the afternoon crying and is devistated we had to throw them away. Poor guy- but he won’t even walk by the microwave now, i guess he learned his lesson. Today Bill said to Charlie, “Let’s go” and he said “Vamanos” (mean let’s go in Spanish)- i guess watching Dora really is educational!
