Lower Manhattan Tour
It was such a beautiful weekend that I thought I would take some pictures of lower manhattan for those of you who have never been here…
We live in Tribeca which is south of SoHo and north of the financial district… we are about 5 blocks from ground zero…
Here’s a picture of ground zero- the progress seems slow for something that happened almost 6 years ago… they are at about ground level at this point. This website shows you what it looks like now and the plans for what they are building http://www.projectrebirth.org/index.html It’s surreal to walk by this almost on a daily basis, but feels more promising now that you can see what they are doing and it’s not just a big hole.
Here is Trinity Church, this amazingly beautiful place in the middle of chaos. It was built in 1846 and Alexander Hamilton is buried here.
There is a scupture of roots from a tree from Sept. 11 in the courtyard. The original roots are in another church (we haven’t seen yet). Amazing!
This is Federal Hall- the statue is of George Washington and marks the site where he took his oath of office in 1789.
Here is the New York Stock Exchange only a few blocks from Bill’s office. He loves walking by here everyday and was able to do a tour a few weeks ago.
Here is the building Bill works in… 75 Broad Street. His office is on the 23rd floor.
This is the patio off of his office & the view of the city-
This is Stone Street, an old cobblestone street near Bill’s office that has lots of cute bars/restaurants
